Jocelyn had the honour of dancing professionally on the international stage before turning her sights on teaching/mentoring in her hometown area of the lower mainland. Jocelyn holds the highest accreditation awarded to teachers with her RAD RTS. She feels privileged to be able to pass on her expertise and devotion of ballet to the students of today.
Starting at the age of 6 in Vernon, Carrie has over 25 years of dance training, all through the Royal Academy of Dance. Carrie’s local and international experience saw her obtain her Royal Academy Registered Teacher status in 2001 while instructing in Hong Kong for 4 years. After this, Carrie operated her own school in Lagos, Nigeria, before returning to Canada to continue her teaching career.
Ramona began her training in Vancouver at age 9, learning the discipline of Ballet from leading teachers and choreographers. She has been invited to work with the RWB Company in such works as the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and other contemporary pieces. Ramona received her Certificate of Ballet Teaching through the Royal Academy of Dance and is a Royal Academy Associate.
Born and raised in Vancouver, Amber received her training with Goh Ballet Academy, Arts Umbrella, The Banff Centre Dance Training and Ballet British Columbia’s Mentor Programme. Amber has an astounding and growing list of awards and achievements, built on a reputation for athletic hybrid movement showcased in various venues, and also has her own contemporary dance company.
Keiko is originally from Tokyo, Japan where she studied Theatrical Arts, training in classical ballet, modern ballet, traditional Japanese dance, jazz dance, hip-hop, and tap. After settling in Canada, her focus shifted to providing fitness training for dancers. Keiko is a BCRPA Certified Fitness Instructor, RIPPED Certified, and passionate about fitness training that helps take dancers to the next level.
Darcy Claybo was born and raised in Port Coquitlam. Darcy’s love of tap grew over the years as she completed all of her A.I.D.T. tap exams, receiving Honours with Distinction. In 2012, she was awarded a bursary for her Gold Higher level examination. Darcy is thrilled to join Avant Dance Company and is excited to be able to share her passion of dance to the current and future generations of dance.

This program is for the youngest of dancers, aged 3-5, incorporating diverse classical ballet training together with a love of the arts. In addition to classical ballet, students are also introduced to creative movement, the art of imagery and music theory.
The Junior Elite program is for dancers aged 5-12 years old. This program is for the young dancer who shows an absolute love of ballet. A comprehensive dance program is offered at this level; once the student reaches the grade 4 level they are invited to attend further class work in the Vaganova method, Jr Pointe/ Pre Pointe and a Conditioning class. Dancers at the Grade 2 level and higher are encouraged to participate in the local Dance Competitions. Dancers is this program are also encouraged to further their love of dance by participating in the offered Jazz and Tap classes.
For the most serious of dancers, who have chosen ballet/modern as their craft. This program is offered to dancers aged 13+ and runs from mid day onwards- 6 days a week. Students are offered daily ballet classes trained in the Vaganova method, Pointe Technique, Modern and Modern Rep, Ballet and Contemporary Repertoire, as well as Conditioning. Along side the open classes, Vocational RAD ballet classes are introduced from Intermediate Foundation up to and including the Solo Seal. We encourage our dancers at this level, who are eligible, to participate in local and international ballet/modern competitions. The Senior Elite program is by audition only.
Each month, we aspire to offer a Saturday Master Class Series with teachers at the forefront of their respected craft. One month it may be Ballet and Modern and the next Jazz. We would like to invite dancers from around the Lower Mainland to attend this master class series.
