ARAD, BA(hons), RAD RTS: Artistic Director
Jocelyn had the honour of dancing professionally on the international stage before turning her sights on teaching/mentoring in her hometown area of the lower mainland. Jocelyn holds the highest accreditation awarded to teachers with her RAD RTS. She feels privileged to be able to pass on her expertise and devotion of ballet to the students of today.
Head of Contemporary
Born and raised in Vancouver, Amber received her training with Goh Ballet Academy, Arts Umbrella, The Banff Centre Dance Training and Ballet British Columbia’s Mentor Programme. Amber has an astounding and growing list of awards and achievements, built on a reputation for athletic hybrid movement showcased in various venues, and also has her own contemporary dance company.
Head of Pilates, Guest Contemporary Faculty
Heather has performed on stage and screen as an actor, dancer and singer. Her journey has lead her to the commercial and company sectors of dance. Her initial training in ballet began at Arts Umbrella, she then moved to Montreal to attend L'Ecole Superieur de Danse Du Quebec and then toured to France and China with the Goh Ballet. Heather choreographs for film and tv as well as her own live dance theatre works.
RAD RTS: Head of Junior Elite Ballet
Starting at the age of 6 in Vernon, Carrie has over 25 years of dance training, all through the Royal Academy of Dance. Carrie’s local and international experience saw her obtain her Royal Academy Registered Teacher status in 2001 while instructing in Hong Kong for 4 years. After this, Carrie operated her own school in Lagos, Nigeria, before returning to Canada to continue her teaching career.
Intermediate/ Senior Ballet
Emily trained at the National Ballet School and the Goh Ballet Academy before moving to Calgary in 2006 to pursue her full time career. Emily recently retired after dancing with the Alberta Ballet for 10 years, and is enjoying her time as a mother immensely. Some of her favourite roles with the company include Arabian (The Nutcracker), a demon (Love Lies Bleeding), pas de deux #4 (Songs of a Wayfarer choreographed by Emily Molnar). Through her teaching, Emily hopes to encourage and inspire young dancers to pursue their dreams.
Petite Elite Ballet
Lyra Kastner was born in South Africa and moved to Vancouver in 2012. She has completed her training through to Advanced 2 with the Royal Academy of Dance , as well as having completed up to Advanced 1 ISTD . Lyra was selected as BC provincial representative for ballet in 2014 . Upon graduating from Avant Dance Co Lyra spent time with Victoria Academy of Ballet in their Bridge Professional Training Program. Lyra has discovered a passion for teaching and is currently completing her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Ballet under the mentorship of Jocelyn Wozencroft. As a graduate of Avant Dance Co. Lyra is excited and looking forward to passing on the passion and mentorship that she experienced as a student in the school.
Petite Elite Ballet
Based out of Vancouver, Sydney has been dancing since the age of 3. Her passion lead her to try various dance styles and complete all her RAD exams to Advanced 2, as well as her AIDT tap exams to Gold Higher. Sydney has trained with studios throughout the lower mainland, and graduated from Avant Dance Co in 2014. She has studied and competed in Canada, the USA and Germany. Currently she is expanding her dance knowledge at Simon Fraser University, enrolled in the dance program. She hopes to empower her students with the same love she has for the arts.
